WHY DONATE?
Financial Assistance/Scholarships/Operations for Youth Development
No child is denied the opportunity to learn laugh and grow due to an inability to pay. Your donation allows us to develop Tuscaloosa’s Youth. – Walt Larisey, CEO YMCA of Tuscaloosa
We anticipate over 200 children per day participating in the 2012 Summer Camp. Most of the camp attendees last year were on scholarship. 2012 Summer Camp will launch the Well’s Fargo Y- Readers, a literacy program dedicated to the development of reading skills in a captivating and fun way for the youth. One in three 12th graders did not graduate with a standard diploma in 2010. Furthermore, drop out rates in 9th, 10th and 11th graders are up to 120% higher than 12th graders. Our new literacy program will directly impact those numbers.
